Who We Are

About Nav Trinjan

A community initiative rooted in tradition, sustainability, and creativity

Nav Trinjan handwoven textile

Where threads were spun, songs were sung, and stories were shared.

Nav Trinjan is inspired by the soulful gatherings of women in Trinjans — where threads were spun, songs were sung, and stories were shared. We seek to revive that timeless spirit of handmade creation.

Our work celebrates the bond between earth and artisan, honouring the sacred journey from seed to cloth. Each thread spun and every fabric woven carries the essence of human touch — a quiet act of devotion to both heritage and the planet.

Our Inspiration

From the cotton fields of Punjab to the rhythmic hum of the charkha, every part of this journey tells a story of resilience, patience, and care. At Nav Trinjan, we believe that handmade work is not merely craft — it is a conversation between people, planet, and purpose.

Our Roots in Kheti Virasat Mission

As an initiative of Kheti Virasat Mission, Nav Trinjan embodies the vision of ecological regeneration and cultural revival — bridging sustainable farming with ethical textile practices.

What guides us

Our Vision & Mission

01

Our Vision

A world woven with care

To weave a world where every thread connects soil, soul, and society. We envision a future where the art of making cloth is not merely a craft — but a way of honouring the earth and empowering the hands that nurture it.

We dream of reviving the gentle rhythm of the charkha, the songs of Trinjan gatherings, and the dignity of handmade work — so that every piece of fabric carries within it a story of care, culture, and continuity.

02

Our Mission

From heart to hand

To preserve and promote India's living textile traditions by empowering rural artisans, reviving ecological farming, and celebrating the art of slow, mindful creation.

We provide 100% organic cotton fabrics — allowing your skin to breathe naturally while supporting the health of our soil and the dignity of our farmers. Through spinning, weaving, and natural dyeing, we bridge the wisdom of the past with the needs of the present.

Our work, our pillars

What We Do

Seven interwoven threads guide our work — from the soil that grows the cotton to the hands that weave the cloth.

i.

Organic Desi Cotton Revival

Bringing back indigenous cotton varieties, grown the way the land remembers — chemical-free, climate-resilient, deeply rooted in Punjab's soil.

ii.

Ecological Sustainability & Harmony

Working in rhythm with the seasons, the soil, and the lives that depend on them — choosing balance over extraction at every step.

iii.

Handloom Weaving Revival

Keeping the looms alive — preserving the slow, patient art of handweaving that machines cannot replicate.

iv.

First Generation Women Weavers

Training women who are the first in their families to weave — building a new lineage of skill, confidence, and craft.

v.

Rural Livelihoods & Women Empowerment

Creating dignified, locally rooted work that lets women stay in their villages while earning, learning, and leading.

vi.

Sustainable Skill Development

Passing traditional knowledge to new hands — ensuring these crafts survive not as museum pieces, but as living practice.

vii.

Decentralised Economy

Rebuilding local value chains — from farmer to spinner to weaver — so wealth circulates within communities, not away from them.

The Journey of Creation

From Seed to Cloth

"The seed dreams of becoming a thread — and the thread, a story woven by hands and heart."

— Stage One —

The Seed

The beginning of a dream

Every fabric begins as a whisper in the soil. Farmers sow the cotton seeds — tiny carriers of potential, holding within them the promise of comfort, care, and creation.

— Stage Two —

The Plant

Nurtured by nature

The earth cradles it, the sun paints it, and the wind hums it awake. The cotton plant grows, tenderly nurtured by soil and sunlight — a dance of life between nature and nurture.

— Stage Three —

The Harvest

Hands of hope

Gentle hands gather clouds from the earth. Farmers pluck the soft white cotton — clouds ready to be spun into stories, carrying the warmth of those who work the land.

— Stage Four —

The Spinning

Threads of transformation

The seed finds its voice as it spins into thread. With the charkha, cotton becomes yarn — patience turns into rhythm, and rhythm becomes creation.

The Weaving

The dance of threads

Each thread meets another — a meeting of dreams and destinies. Threads interlace on the loom, creating patterns that hold memory, labour, and meaning.

The Cloth

The final creation

What began as a seed now breathes as a story. The cloth is born — carrying the purity of earth, the warmth of hands, and the poetry of tradition.
